Missions
Under the direction of the team leader, the recruited person will work on the rapid and optimal development of the research activities of the team and contribute to the organizational aspects of the group.
Activités
Management of the basic resources of the teams:
- Monitor stocks and ensure the supply of common reagents (enzymes, kits...).
- Participate in the preparation of common culture media and solutions of the team and of that of Dr. Damien Coudreuse.
Organization of the teams:
- Place orders for routine operations for the Wu and Coudreuse teams.
- Ensure the maintenance and servicing of scientific equipment through interactions with the manufacturers.
- Contribute to the practical and administrative activities of the teams.
Contribution to research projects:
- Learn and apply specific techniques used in the team.
- Conduct experiments and analyses in response to requests from team members (team leader, post-docs and PhD students). Present her/his results in lab meetings.
- For all of her/his activities, the recruited person will alert, if necessary, the team leaders of any issues encountered in the tasks for which she/he is responsible.
Compétences
Essential and required skills:
- Good level of spoken and written English (B2 to C1 levels according to the CECRL Framework). The language of the teams is English, both for the interactions between the members of the group and for the writing and communication of protocols.
- Mastery of classical molecular biology techniques (plasmid construction, western blots, PCR, RNA manipulation...).
- Ability to use standard office software (Office).
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation for participating in the development of the research projects but also for managing the various administrative and organizational tasks for which she/he will be responsible.
- Ability to work in a team and in collaboration with internal and external team members and collaborators.
Skills that will be an asset:
- Basic knowledge of genetics.
- Experience in microbiology techniques (yeast).
Contexte de travail
The Research Assistant will work on the full-time basis in the team of Dr. Pei-Yun Jenny Wu, according to the working conditions and salary detailed in her/his contract. She/he may have to work outside of the IBGC (“mission”) in the context of her/his activities. She/he will be trained to all the protocols in place at IBGC, allowing her/him to work in a safe environment. An authorization for working outside of regular hours may be delivered if needed, at the request of the Research Assistant. An extension of the contract may be possible.
The recruited person will work in the Institute of Biochemistry and Cellular Genetics (CNRS UMR 5095). The IBGC is a fundamental research institute focused on various themes ranging from cell cycle biology to the study of metabolism. The institute is made up of 12 research teams that use a wide range of model systems. The Research Assistant will join the team of Dr. Pei-Yun Jenny Wu, which uses fission yeast to study fundamental biological mechanisms.
