Job Description
Missions
The postdoc position is to study the structural dynamics of biological photoreceptors by either time- time-resolved cryo-electron microscopy or time-resolved X-ray crystallography in view of biotechnological applications.
Activity
1. Conduct research, from setting up experiments to writing up results:
- Master the literature within the scope of the project and beyond
- Expression and purification of biological photoreceptors
- Time-resolved single-particle cryo-electron microscopy: grid preparation, data acquisition and analysis, model building and analysis
or
Time-resolved serial X-ray crystallography: microcrystallization, data acquisition and analysis, model building and analysis
- Prepare results for oral presentations in English
- Proactively contribute ideas for the development of experiments and biological questions
- Write protocols and research articles in English for publication of the work carried out
2. Participate in laboratory life:
- Participate in the group's day-to-day activities (logistics, reagent inventory, tidying up, etc.)
- Assist with the supervision of interns
- Participate in the Institute's scientific events
Your Profil
Skills
- Experience in protein expression and purification
- Experience in either static single-particle cryoEM or time-resolved X-ray crystallography or solution scattering
- English (written/oral) level B2/C1

Your Work Environment
a national and international player in the field of integrated structural biology. The IBS is a research center, a technical platform, a host site and a scientific training center. Its mission is to develop research in structural biology, a field of research that is crucial to the understanding of fundamental biological mechanisms. It is supported by 12 state-of-the-art platforms.
As a joint research unit (CEA-CNRS-UGA), the IBS is composed of 20 research groups, each of which proposes a multi-disciplinary approach, at the frontiers of biology, physics and chemistry, in coherence with 3 research axes. Nearly 320 people work there as researchers, PhD students, engineers and technicians in a multicultural and international environment.
The person recruited will join the DYNAMOP group 'https://www.ibs.fr/fr/recherche/assemblage-dynamique-et-reactivite/groupe-dynamique-et-cinetique-des-processus-moleculaires-m-weik/) and will also collaborate with the group, and possibly with the group as well MEM group (https://www.ibs.fr/fr/recherche/assemblage-dynamique-et-reactivite/groupe-microscopie-electronique-et-methodes-g-schoehn/).
