Your Work Environment

The LHFA (www.lhfa.fr) is a joint laboratory of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the University of Toulouse (UMR 5069), located in Toulouse, France. It comprises 6 research teams (18 researchers and lecturer-researchers, 9 technical engineers and administrative staff; ~40 PhD students, postdocs, and master's students per year). Research activities focus on the molecular chemistry of p-block elements, with cross-cutting actions in organometallic chemistry, metal nanoparticles, catalysis, and polymers, including mechanistic studies.
The LHFA offers a highly dynamic and international environment (~40% foreign students), with cutting-edge research. Teams maintain academic (inter)national and industrial collaborations. In recent years, the SYMAC team has focused on developing immobilized catalysts in liquid phases (ionic liquids, glycerol) or solid supports (original functionalized supports). Understanding observed reactivity is central to our research, leading to detailed mechanistic studies through reaction monitoring using various techniques (ReactIR, NMR, EPR).
The SYMAC team has experience in managing national and European projects, spanning fundamental and applied research, such as the Interreg POCTEFA TRIPyr and VADOLI projects (Occitanie Region), which focus on the valorization of industrial residues. The FATOLCAT project for this position, funded by CNRS Innovation, aims to valorize biomass-derived fatty derivatives into fatty alcohols through catalytic transformations.

Constraints and risks

For this position, there are no specific risks or constraints. General and task-specific safety training will be provided in the lab.
