Job Description

Missions

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop and apply imaging-based and computational approaches to identify predictive nuclear signatures of cell fate. The project combines experimental and quantitative analysis components and is part of a collaborative effort within the PEPR Cell-ID network.

Activity

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
● Designing and implementing chromatin tracing experiments (Hi-M)
● Developing multiplexed RNA-FISH assays for cell type identification
● Quantifying nuclear organization features (3D chromatin structure, topology, chromatin state)
● Analyzing imaging datasets using quantitative and machine learning approaches
● Developing predictive models linking nuclear features to future cell fate
● Interacting with collaborators in imaging, computational biology, and developmental biology

Your Profil

Skills

The candidate should have:
● A PhD in biophysics, biology, physics, or a related field
● Experience in experimental biology (molecular biology, imaging, or genetics)
● Strong interest in interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, physics, and computation
● Experience in image analysis and/or machine learning is highly desirable
● Programming skills (Python or equivalent) are a plus
● Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment

Your Work Environment

The Centre de Biologie Structurale (CBS) conducts cutting-edge research in structural biology and biophysics to uncover the physical mechanisms underlying biological activity and its regulation. CBS is located in Montpellier, a vibrant research hub on the Mediterranean coast, and hosts world-class expertise in advanced microscopy, including multiplexed imaging, single-molecule super-resolution microscopy (PALM/STORM), 3D structured illumination microscopy, and high-throughput imaging approaches.
Our interdisciplinary research group aims to understand how genome organization and chromatin structure regulate gene expression in multicellular organisms. We develop and apply advanced imaging approaches to study transcription and 3D chromatin organization in intact tissues at single-cell resolution
