Job Description
Missions
The group of Dr. Aurore Dupin (http://dupinlab.com/research) at the University of Bordeaux/CNRS is looking for a post-doc candidate to work on the development of synthetic gene circuits to study biological phenomenon in novel surface-based artificial cells.
In this post-doc project, the candidate will work on the development of bio-chips to attach linear synthetic genes and study their response in cell-free expression systems. Our lab aims to engineer artificial cells to reconstitute and study complex biological processes. This project will explore the design and characterization of gene regulatory circuits in surface artificial cells.
• Development of surface-tethered genes for controlled expression, with characterization of the impact on physical parameters like surface density on biological response.
• Design of biomimetic gene circuits and characterization in bulk cell-free systems optimized for high efficiency of protein expression.
Activity
• Design, cloning and characterization of gene circuits.
• Production and purification of proteins.
• Implementation of cell-free systems.
• Use of fluorescence microscopy
• Image analysis, data analysis and reaction-diffusion modelling
• Scientific writing (proposal and publication)
• Mentoring of students
Your Profil
Skills
• PhD in biochemistry / biology / biophysics / chemistry / bioengineering or equivalent, with wetlab experience in molecular biology
• Demonstrated experience in biochemistry (cloning, protein purification, microbiology assays) and data anlaysis (Matlab or Python)
• Beneficial but nor required: fluorescence microscopy or clean-room microfabrication experience
• Very motivated with solid experimental skills, organisation, scientific rigor and communication (including good English level)
• Experience in scientific writing and in student supervision.
Your Work Environment
This post-doc position will be in the Bio-Physico-Chemistry team at the Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (https://www.crpp.cnrs.fr/), a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative institute of the CNRS and the University of Bordeaux, with major research activities in synthetic biology. You will have access to:
• State-of-the-art laboratories and equipment
• International and collaborative environment
• Salary aligned with French postdoctoral pay scales
• Working hours, holidays, and leaves (including parental leave) following French legislation.
Our lab values multidisciplinarity, diversity and respect as core values to support creative, constructive and high-quality research.
The position is in a sector subject to the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore, in accordance with regulations, your appointment must be authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
