Job Description
Missions
The successful applicant will participate in the research activities of the Indo-French MEET project dedicated to the development of sustainable, high-performance thermoelectric materials for thermal energy harvesting and conversion. They will contribute to the synthesis, processing and optimization of functional materials, including processes involving controlled pressure and temperature conditions. The research will focus on relationships between processing, structure, microstructure and functional properties, together with material characterization. The successful applicant will contribute to experimental data analysis and interpretation, scientific exchanges between the French and Indian partners, and the preparation of reports, publications and scientific communications. They will also contribute to the dissemination and valorization of project results while respecting confidentiality and intellectual-property requirements.
Activity
The successful applicant will carry out the synthesis and processing of thermoelectric materials and perform experiments under controlled temperature and pressure conditions. They will prepare samples and contribute to structural, microstructural and functional characterization. They will investigate processing-structure-microstructure-property relationships and contribute to the processing, analysis and interpretation of experimental data. Activities will include optimization of processing conditions and evaluation of material performance. The successful applicant will ensure proper traceability of experiments and research data, participate in scientific meetings and exchanges with project partners, and contribute to reports, scientific publications and presentations. They will also participate in dissemination and valorization activities in compliance with project confidentiality requirements.
Your Profil
Skills
The successful applicant should have a strong background in materials science and engineering, materials physics or materials chemistry, with experience in the synthesis, processing and consolidation of functional materials. Experience in thermoelectric materials, energy-related materials, pressure-assisted processing and/or consolidation techniques would be advantageous. Skills in structural and microstructural characterization and experimental data analysis are expected. The applicant should demonstrate scientific rigor, autonomy, organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an international research environment. Good written and oral scientific communication skills in English are required, together with the ability to prepare reports, scientific publications and presentations. Compliance with confidentiality, research-data traceability and intellectual-property requirements is essential.
Your Work Environment
Created in 1995, the Bordeaux Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry (ICMCB) focuses its research on Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemistry and Process: designing, preparing, shaping and characterizing materials in order to discover, control and optimize specific functions. The ICMCB carries out fundamental research on model materials and/or materials with potential applications.
The ICMCB is a UMR with an average of 280 agents (permanent and non-permanent), with 3 tutelles, hosted by the CNRS and in total ZRR. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PSTP), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that the arrival of the agent be authorized by the competent authority of MESR.
Constraints and risks
The activities will be mainly laboratory-based and will require strict compliance with safety procedures and rules governing the use of experimental equipment. They may involve handling powders and materials, using equipment operating at elevated temperatures, under pressure and/or with high-power electrical systems, and carrying out sample preparation and characterization. Associated risks will be managed through institutional safety procedures, appropriate protective equipment and required training before operating the relevant experimental systems. Particular attention must be paid to experimental traceability, research-data management, confidentiality and intellectual-property requirements associated with the collaborative project. Regular scientific interactions with project partners are also expected.
