Job Description

Missions

The development of new energy storage technologies is a major challenge for the energy transition and sustainable development. Improving materials for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries is essential to develop more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly energy storage systems. In this context, the design of new electrode and electrolyte materials for all-solid-state batteries, with reduced reliance on critical raw materials and elements with a high environmental impact, represents a major scientific challenge.

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for developing and investigating new inorganic materials for all-solid-state batteries, with a particular focus on positive electrode materials and solid electrolytes.

Activity

Synthesis of new inorganic materials using various methods.
• Structural and physicochemical characterization using X-ray, electron, and neutron diffraction, as well as spectroscopy and microscopy techniques.
• Investigation of the electrochemical properties of materials and battery cells, including ionic conductivity, electrochemical stability, and cycling performance.
• Analysis of the relationships between composition, structure, properties, and electrochemical performance.
• Dissemination of research results through scientific publications and conference presentations.
• Supervision of Master's students and/or PhD students.

Your Profil

Skills

Strong background in inorganic chemistry and materials science.
Experience in materials synthesis and characterization, as well as electrochemistry and battery research.
Knowledge of diffraction, spectroscopy, and microscopy techniques is appreciated.
Ability to analyze and interpret experimental results, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.
Good scientific writing skills in English and ability to disseminate research results through scientific publications and conferences.
Experience in student supervision is appreciated.

Your Work Environment

Created in 1995, the Bordeaux Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry (ICMCB) focuses its research on Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemistry and Process: designing, preparing, shaping and characterizing materials in order to discover, control and optimize specific functions. The ICMCB carries out fundamental research on model materials and/or materials with potential applications.
The ICMCB is a UMR with an average of 280 agents (permanent and non-permanent), with 3 tutelles, hosted by the CNRS and in total ZRR. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PSTP), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that the arrival of the agent be authorized by the competent authority of MESR.

Constraints and risks

No other risks than those associated with working with inorganic solid-state chemistry.

Compensation and benefits

Compensation
