This postdoctoral work aims to investigate historical records, sources of contaminants and spatial trends along the four main French Rivers. The inventory of available sediment datasets from research and monitoring programs will permit an inter-basin comparison of the state of contamination, taking into account geochemical background noise, multi-decadal trends (trajectories) and socio-environmental data. Moreover, an inventory of practices (depositional environments, collection, analyses) with recommendations for stakeholders will be carried out. The candidate may also take part in the supervision of a master's internship.
The successful candidate must independently:
- bank, analyze and interpret the results,
- present the data in written and oral forms (French and English),
- take part in the writing of scientific articles in English,
- supervise student interns
Doctor in geosciences with knowledge in sedimentology, sediment geochemistry and data mining. Many professional trips are planned to the various partner laboratories and to the project study sites. We are therefore looking for a collaborator with good teamwork, communication and writing skills in English.
The INTERPOL research project consortium is recruiting a postdoctoral collaborator with training in surface geosciences to study the contamination trajectories of major French rivers. Lasting 10 months, the postdoctoral fellow will be based at the University of Lyon within the LEHNA laboratory (UMR 5023), on the site of the National School of Public Works (ENTPE) in Vaulx en Velin. This work is part of a research project that aims to establish a national INTER-comparison framework of long-term contamination trends of French Rivers (INTERPOL project). The French Biodiversity Office (OFB), the CNRS-INEE LTER of Seine, Loire, Garonne and Rhône bassins and the associated research laboratories are involved in this program.
