Missions
We are looking for a candidate specializing in engineering and materials science to support the group's research activities on the thermal properties of graphene at high magnetic fields and low temperatures, with the following tasks: -Design, fabricate and characterize graphene samples with very high mobilities
-Participate in measurement campaigns at very low temperatures and high magnetic fields
-Participate in data analysis, interpretation of results and writing of scientific publications.
Activités
-The candidate will perform sample nanofabrication and low-temperature thermal transport measurements. These activities include:
- exfoliation of two-dimensional materials and optical characterization
- assembly of van der Waals heterostructures
- nanofabrication of samples in SPEC's clean room
- room-temperature characterization by electron transport, atomic force microscope - measurements under strong magnetic field and low temperature
- data analysis
- presentation of results orally and in report form.
Compétences
The candidate should have experience in at least one of the following areas of expertise:
-Nanofabrication, in particular van der Waals heterostructures
-Low-noise measurements at very low temperatures and high magnetic fields
-Cryogenics
In addition to these technical skills, a good knowledge of quantum physics and condensed matter (M2 level), and a good level of English (B2 minimum) are expected.
Contexte de travail
SPEC (Service de Physique de l'Etat Condensé, CNRS UMR 3680) is a joint unit of CNRS and CEA Saclay. The Nanoelectronics group specializes in the experimental study of low-temperature electronic transport properties of low-dimensional mesoscopic systems to explore their fundamental properties.
