Missions
The post-doc researcher is expected to perform research tasks on projects related to the ANR grant CiTeLab (ANR-22-CE26-0016-01) “Cities, technological change and labor markets” (Villes, changement technologique et le marché du travail).
These involve topics in spatial, urban and labor economics and industrial organization.
These projects involve, inter alia, questions around the effects of new technologies and international trade on the organisation of economic activity across space and its consequences on the overall society.
These projects involve professors from HEC Paris, PSE and Columbia University.
Top journals for publications are targeted.
Activities
The tasks related to the post-doc will involve:
- Performing literature reviews
- Gathering data
- Construction of data sets
- Data analysis
- Formulating and testing hypotheses
- Conceptual work on modelling
There are no teaching duties.
Skills
- Ph.D. in economics
- Good knowledge of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics (Spatial economics, Urban economics / Economic Geography or International Trade a plus)
- Working knowledge of data analysis tools (Excel, STATA, R or equivalent)
- Good written and spoken English
- Ability to program (C++, Python etc.) a plus
The knowledge of French is not required.
Work Context
The post-doc researcher will be involved in the vibrant scientific life of the HEC Paris Economics and Decision Sciences department.
The post-doc will work under the responsibility of Tomasz Michalski (Associate Professor of Economics, HEC Paris), PI of the ANR grant.
Secure access to French administrative data via CASD will be set up.
The post-doc will have an equiped workspace at the Economics and Decision Sciences department at HEC Paris. About 36-hour week load. Partial teleworking after 6 months can be envisaged.
