Job Description
Missions
As part of a technology prematuration project dedicated to the development of new in vitro tumor models, we are seeking a Research Engineer to contribute to the development and characterization of tumor-on-chip models based on 3D magnetic cell micropatterning. The project aims to spatially organize different cell populations within a 3D extracellular matrix to reproduce key features of the tumor microenvironment under controlled conditions and investigate tumor–stroma interactions and responses to anticancer treatments. The successful candidate will contribute to the technological development and prematuration of the tumor-on-chip model, with a particular focus on its quantitative analysis and characterization using image analysis and multiphysics modelling approaches.
Activity
• Develop and optimize quantitative analysis methods for 3D microscopy images to characterize the organization and behavior of tumor models.
• Develop multiphysics simulation models of magnetic fields and gradients to optimize device design and material selection.
• Analyze and formalize results in technical and scientific reports.
• Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, research projects, and funding applications.
Your Profil
Skills
• PhD in bioengineering, biophysics, physics, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in scientific image analysis; proficiency with Fiji/ImageJ, Python, or equivalent tools would be appreciated.
• Experience or a good foundation in multiphysics modelling, ideally using COMSOL Multiphysics.
• Good scientific communication and writing skills in English.
• Knowledge of cell culture, microfluidics, 3D modelling, or nanomagnetism would be appreciated but can be acquired within the team.
• Previous experience in writing scientific publications, research proposals, or funding applications would be an asset.
Your Work Environment
The project is conducted in a highly interdisciplinary environment combining bioengineering, biophysics, microfluidics, and cancer research at Institut Curie and IPGG in Paris.
The position is part of a technology prematuration phase aimed at consolidating the technology, demonstrating its scientific and applicative value, and preparing subsequent technology transfer and valorization steps. It may therefore be particularly suited to candidates interested in contributing to the maturation of a technology originating from academic research and potentially pursuing its development within a future entrepreneurial/start-up project.
Constraints and risks
The position is based in Paris and requires primarily on-site work.
Compensation and benefits
Compensation
Between €3,237.95 and €3,505.52 gross per month, depending on experience.
