Missions

Elaboration of heterostructures based on antiferromagnetic oxides (typically RFeO3) possessing a Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction induced by different means, hosting antiferromagnetic skyrmions. Characterization of these skyrmions by near field microscopy.

- Growth by laser ablation and sputtering
- Characterization by X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy
- MFM and NV center microscopy
- X-ray spectroscopy
- Optical lithography
- Electrical transport measurements
- Data analysis and modeling
- Writing of scientific reports and papers

Skills

- Magnetism and spintronics (required)
- Thin film growth by laser ablation, sputtering or MBE (required)
- Experience in magnetic microscopy / near field microscopy (desired)
- Experience in optical and electronic lithography (desired)
- Knowledge of thin film perovskite oxides (desired)
- Programming skills in Labview, Matlab, etc (optional)
- Excellent organizational and scientific writing skills in English (required)
- Good communication skills (desired)

Work Context

The project will take place mainly at the Unité Mixte de Physique CNRS/Thales (UMPhy) in Palaiseau and will be part of the FET-Open TSAR project.
