Your Work Environment
CIRM is a research and support unit (UAR 822) under the supervision of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the Société Mathématique de France (SMF), and Aix-Marseille University (AMU). CIRM is affiliated with the Institut National des Sciences Mathématiques et de leurs Interactions (INSMI).
Located on the Luminy campus in Marseille, CIRM is the world's largest mathematical research center in terms of attendance, hosting over 5,000 researchers annually who participate in 120 international mathematical events.
Each year, CIRM hosts two high-level mathematicians for six months as part of the Jean Morlet Chair. Each semester of the Chair is dedicated to an internationally renowned researcher from a foreign institution, who leads a project in close collaboration with research units at Aix-Marseille University. With the support of a local partner, the Chair holder organizes a scientific program. The goal is not only to establish international collaboration but also to develop strong synergies between laboratories, researchers, and PhD students within the mathematical community and beyond. The Chair is open to all areas of mathematical sciences and their interactions. Each semester is built around a comprehensive program of scientific activities (1 conference, 1 research school, 1-2 workshops, 2 research pairs, and other parallel activities such as masterclasses, conferences at FRUMAM, etc.). It is organized alongside an environment program that invites collaborators, PhD students, post-docs, and special guests. This program provides additional funding for the Chair and enhances its international visibility.
This internationally recognized program, established in 2013, is an ideal opportunity to promote the attractiveness of the Marseille region and to highlight current research and emerging ideas in all areas of mathematical sciences.
