Work Context

-CIRM is a joint service unit of the Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the Société Mathématique de France (SMF) and the Université d'Aix-Marseille (AMU). CIRM is attached to the Institut National des Sciences Mathématiques et de leurs Interactions (INSMI).
Located on the Luminy campus in Marseille, CIRM is the world's largest mathematical meeting center in terms of attendance. We welcome over 5000 researchers every year, who take part in 120 international mathematical events.
Each year, CIRM hosts two mathematicians for 6 months as part of the Jean Morlet Chair. Each semester of the Chair is devoted to an internationally-renowned researcher from a foreign institution who is leading a project closely associating the research units of Aix-Marseille University. With the help of a local sponsor, the holder organizes a scientific program. The idea is not only to establish collaboration at an international level, but also to develop strong synergies between laboratories, researchers and doctoral students, within the mathematical community and beyond. The Chair is open to all fields of mathematical science and mathematics in interaction.
Each semester is built around a wide-ranging program of scientific activities (1 conference, 1 research school, 1 or 2 workshops, 2 paired research projects + any other parallel activities such as Masterclasses, FRUMAM conferences, etc.). It is organized in parallel with a program of invitations to collaborators, doctoral and post-doctoral students, special guests, etc. The latter brings additional funding to the Chair, as well as international visibility.
Since its creation in 2013, this internationally acclaimed program has provided an ideal opportunity to promote the attractiveness of the Marseille region, and to showcase current research and emerging ideas in all areas of the mathematical sciences.
