The “Breast Cancer Survivorship Research Program” at Gustave Roussy. Since 2016, the “Breast Cancer Survivorship Research Program” research group, led by Doctor Ines VAZ-LUIS, has been registered at Gustave Roussy (GR) in the INSERM U981 Unit. The group consists of more than 15 people, including medical oncologists, biostatisticians, mathematicians, sociologists and psychologists. It aims to provide cancer survivors with individualized and high-quality care, beyond the traditional approach of an academic cancer center. This research program combines distinct approaches: 1) quantitative, using existing data sets to understand who is at risk for long-term complications after cancer treatment, 2) qualitative, to better understand stakeholder preferences and barriers to future, 3) interventional interventions to conduct clinical trials focused on personalizing breast cancer survival (currently 5 trials have received national funding and are ongoing). Since 2020, the group has been leading the strategic institutional axis of the GR focused on post-cancer. The group is the scientific leader of the national CANTO cohort (funding ~ 10M € per ANR), and it co-led the re-funding of the CANTO cohort in 2019 (~ 5M € per ANR). The group is heavily invested in facilitating patient-centered clinical research through the implementation of a national technological research infrastructure (weSHARE-ESR- EquipEX + PI, ~ € 11M). Since 2016, the group has generated several original articles published in inclusive high impact journals, Journal of Clinical Oncology Annals of Oncology and Lancet Oncology.
