Job Description
Missions
The ECHOES European Project Manager will be responsible for the operational management, coordination, and strategic monitoring of the project, in support of the Scientific Coordinator. Its duties include the organizational, administrative, and partnership management of the project, as well as facilitating the consortium and its broader ecosystem.
Activity
Activities:
The main responsibilities of the ECHOES European Project Manager are as follows:
1. Management and European coordination:
- Ensure project planning, operational monitoring, and adherence to the project timeline in coordination with the 51 consortium partners;
- Contribute to the cross-cutting coordination of work packages, particularly in the areas of governance, innovation, and communities;
- Identify operational, scientific, and financial risks and propose mitigation measures;
- Monitor project deliverables and milestones;
- Act as the operational interface with the European Commission (Project Officer, reporting);
- Ensure compliance with Horizon Europe requirements (deliverables, indicators, open science, data management);
- Participate in the preparation of project reviews (review meetings);
- Contribute to the coordination of scientific and financial reporting.
2. Coordination and facilitation of the ECHOES consortium:
- Organize and facilitate project governance bodies (committees, strategic meetings, working groups);
- Coordinate exchanges between partners and ensure effective information flow.
3. Community building and ecosystem engagement:
- Foster synergies with other Horizon Europe projects and European initiatives;
- Contribute to strengthening the project's strategic positioning within European initiatives related to data infrastructures and digital cultural heritage.
Your Profil
Skills
Skills and qualifications:
• Education and experience:
- PhD in the humanities or a Master's degree (Master 2 / equivalent to a 5-year higher educa-tion degree) in a related field;
- At least one year of experience in European project management (preferably Horizon Eu-rope);
- Proven experience in project management, including administrative and financial monitoring.
• Knowledge:
- Ability to analyze, communicate, and draft scientific documents;
- Good understanding of the functioning of European research projects and EU research and innovation policies;
- Knowledge of the European institutional environment and the research landscape (national and European);
- Expertise in at least two disciplines related to cultural heritage;
- Understanding of the challenges related to digital research and innovation applied to cul-tural heritage;
- Excellent command of English (C1 level, both written and spoken);
- Good command of French (written and spoken).

Your Work Environment
The recruitment is part of the ECHOES project (Horizon Europe), coordinated by the CNRS for a duration of five years (2024–2029). The project aims to develop the first European cloud dedicated to cultural heritage (European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – ECCCH), a collaborative digital infrastructure serving research, innovation, and professionals in the sector. This position is open following the European Project Manager's move to a new professional opportunity. Contract duration: 12 months, renewable until 31 May2029
With a budget of €25 million and bringing together 51 institutional and private partners across Europe, ECHOES is a unique project at the European level. It brings together, for the first time, stakeholders from cultural heritage, the humanities and social sciences, as well as digital and data science fields. Through the implementation of this infrastructure, ECHOES contributes to structuring and uniting currently fragmented communities by facilitating access to data, advanced digital tools, and scientific resources, while supporting the development of new uses related to cultural heritage. The project is coordinated by the CNRS within the MSH Val de Loire, a federative structure in the humani-ties and social sciences under the supervision of the CNRS and the Universities of Tours and Orléans, bringing together 22 research teams covering all disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.
The ECHOES European Project Manager will work under the hierarchical supervision of the Scientific Co-ordinator of ECHOES, who is also Director of the MSH Val de Loire, Xavier Rodier. The Project Manager will be integrated into the ECHOES coordination team, which includes a Scientific Project Officer, a Digital Project Officer, and a Legal Affairs Officer.
