Job Description

Missions

The researcher will establish energy estimates for the quantum processes involved in computation and investigate how these limits scale with problem size and classical control requirements. The OECQ project offers unique opportunities to explore, through industrially relevant use cases, how energy costs identified at the quantum scale are amplified at the macroscopic scale, and how they may affect the technology roadmaps of companies developing quantum processors.

Activity

• Establish fundamental energy estimates and bounds for the quantum processes involved in computation, and investigate how these limits scale with problem size and the classical control requirements of processors developed by the start-ups Alice & Bob and/or Quandela.
• Work closely with experimental teams from one or both start-ups to propose experiments and model experimental data.
• Write scientific articles and participate in project reviews and relevant conferences.
• Supervise interns and PhD students within the group.

Your Profil

Skills

• PhD in theoretical quantum physics, quantum thermodynamics or quantum computing, with a strong focus on realistic models. Experience with superconducting qubits and bosonic codes would be a major asset.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and across multiple levels of description.
• Proven experience in publishing research and delivering presentations in relevant fields.
• Creativity, autonomy and the ability to think outside the box.

Your Work Environment

MajuLab is an international joint research laboratory established by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Université Côte d'Azur (UCA), Sorbonne University (SU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Since its creation in 2014, this Franco-Singaporean quantum research centre has initiated and supported long-term synergies between the French and Singaporean ecosystems. The researcher will be based at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, a long-established centre of excellence in quantum science and technology. They will become part of Singapore's fast-growing quantum ecosystem, within a multicultural hub and one of Asia's leading centres for deep technologies.
