Missions

The researcher will establish fundamental energy limits for the quantum processes involved in computation and explore how these limits evolve with problem size and classical control. The OECQ project offers unique opportunities to explore on industrial problems how energy costs established at the quantum scale are amplified at the macroscopic scale, and their impact on the roadmaps of companies manufacturing quantum processors.

Activities

- Establish fundamental energy limits for the quantum processes at play in computations, and explore how these limits evolve with problem size and classical control of the processors built in the Alice&Bob and Quandela startups.
- Working closely with experimenters from the two startups to propose experiments and model data.
- Writing articles and attending project reviews and relevant conferences
- Supervising the group's trainees and PhD students.

Skills

- PhD in theoretical quantum physics, quantum thermodynamics, quantum computing,
with a focus on realistic models. Experience in the field of superconducting qubits
and bosonic codes will be a major asset.
- Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills. - Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and at several levels of description.
- Proven track record of research publications and presentations in relevant fields.
relevant fields.
- Creativity, autonomy and the ability to think out of the box.

Work Context

MajuLab is a joint international laboratory whose signatory institutions are the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), Université Côte d'Azur (UCA), Sorbonne Universite (SU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Since its creation in 2014, this Franco-Singaporean quantum centre has helped to initiate and support
long-term synergies between the French and Singaporean ecosystems. The research fellow will be based at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, a long-standing reference centre in the field of quantum. He/she will be involved in Singapore's thriving ecosystem, a multicultural centre and an Asian leader in the field of deep technologies.
