Missions

Assume the role of postdoctoral researcher for the combination of 360-degree vision and robotics (collaborative robot arm, humanoid robot) to enable the dynamic handover of an object from a person to a robot and carry it together to move it.

Activités

- Activity 1: Substantive work focused on extending methods for detecting the pose of an object (possibly occluded, even if only partially) held by a person to 360-degree robot vision, in line with mesh detection and biomechanical variables estimations of the same person. The research will be based on recent spherical representations such as UniphorM.
- Activity 2: Integrate both object and person detection in the control of collaborative robot arms and humanoids to grasp the object without stopping motion, even if it is necessary for the humanoid to move to reach the object.
- Activity 3: Produce associated robotic demonstrators and publish work in prestigious international journals and conferences.

Compétences

 Skills/knowledge: computer vision, neural networks, robot control, unconventional cameras, humanoid robotics
 Skills: formalization of geometric and photometric image models, neural network training, software development, hardware installation, oral and written communication in scientific English
 Personal skills: availability, openness, ability to listen
 Managerial skills: participation in meetings and activities of the ANR CALL project funding the contract, supervision of students.

Contexte de travail

JRL is a sixty-member international research laboratory based in Tsukuba, Japan. It conducts research in humanoid robotics and is involved in numerous collaborative academic and industrial projects producing impressive demonstrations. Its researchers publish their work in the best international journals (IEEE T-RO, IJCV, etc.) and conferences (IEEE ICRA, IEEE/RSJ IROS, etc.) of the field.
Within the framework of the ANR CALL project, this postdoctoral contract offer is for 12 months if less than 2 years' experience. The duration may vary according to experience.
