Work Context

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were established by the United Nations in 2015, but translating them into concrete actions that make sense on a more local scale is a real challenge. The Xpaths project, an international project funded by the Swedish government (FORMAS), seeks to define concrete actions in three countries in drylands: Senegal, Brazil and Spain. The person recruited for the Xpaths project will join the International Research Laboratory, "Environment, Health and Societies" (IRL 3189ESS), a joint international research unit, and will be based at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. The IRL 3189ESS is a successful example of interdisciplinarity where research teams from different scientific cultures (ecology, physiology, anthropology, sociology, geography, medicine...) develop research themes related to major challenges at the environment-health interface in West Africa.
