This project takes place in the context of the NINSAR PEPR project on robotics for precision agriculture, a collaborative action at the French scale. The specific purpose of this project is to develop semantic mapping tools for outdoor natural environment. Assuming localisation is solved in this context, the objective will be to recognize environment features in order to adapt control parameters and select elementary behaviors. This entails recognizing scene elements, such as the type of soil, crops species, humans and obstacles. A specific interest will be the design of online a 3D map, enhanced with the semantic of the geometry.
Perceptual processing and mapping, Deep-learning, computer vision (with Deep-learning), ROS, Software integration and engineering, linux development and deployment, field testing, experimentation.
Very good written and spoken English (good communication in French would be a plus), Good public communication skills.
Experience in multi-partner project management, especially involving industry and academia, experience in project management.
Deep-learning: segmentation and detection models, recursive models for video processing.
Object detection, 3D tracking and mapping, 3D geometry, data fusion.
ROS integration, field experimentation.
Scientific writing in English and French
NINSAR project funded by PEPR and involving most of the French robotics laboratories. The field experiments will be coordinated by INRAe in Clermont-Ferrand and a certain mobility in France is expected in the context of this post-doc.
Constraints and risks
Constraints: Projects involving a demonstrated taste for field experimentation in natural or agricultural environments. A strong interest in engineering and development will be essential.
