Missions

In this one-year project, it is sought to develop a numerical simulation model capable of considering precipitation of second phase particles for the prediction of microstructure evolution in additively manufactured Al-Sc alloys for automotive use. To this aim, the researcher will utilize a classical nucleation and growth model (CLANG), thermodynamic CALPHAD simulations and a cellular automaton for solidification.
The objectives of this project are:
- Develop an AI model for considering the chemical driving forces for precipitation
- Couple the CLANG model with the cellular automaton.
- Compare the simulation results to experimental findings
- Optimize simulation parameters

Activités

The one-year position should lead to: Develop an AI model to take into account the chemical driving forces of precipitation - Couple the CLANG model with cellular automation - Compare simulation results with experimental results - Optimize simulation parameters

Compétences

Essential skills: Master's level education in physics and/or electrical engineering, ability to work in English on a daily basis. Previous experience on a project related to additive manufacturing and/or materials science would be a plus.

Contexte de travail

The position will be based at IRL 2958 GT-CNRS, a joint international laboratory between the Georgia Institute of Technology and CNRS, under the direction of prof. L.A. Barrales-Mora, a specialist in computational materials science. As with any research project, this is a collaboration with a set of international partners from different fields, which will require a certain level of collaborative work and communication.

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

Working in a bilingual environment The position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the competent MESR authority.
