Job Description

Missions

To support scientific research and experiments connected to the DRAGON recoil separator and TUDA charged-particle array astrophysics program at ISAC (which includes the SONIK scattering target at the DRAGON Facility, and the TACTIC AT-TPC).

Activity

• Participates in all DRAGON/TUDA experiments, providing support in data acquisition, analysis, and dissemination of scientific results for selected experiments.
• Provides support and expertise in facility operation and maintenance, as well as DAQ and detector upgrades.
• Will be required to occasionally supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
• Participates in ongoing astrophysics efforts at TRIUMF connected to the Astrophysics Group.
• Will be encouraged to use state-of-the-art stellar modelling software (NuGrid) to investigate nuclear reactions in various stellar environments as part of the DRAGON program.
• Prepares reports and documentation.
• Disseminates results as articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at national and international conferences and workshops;

Your Profil

Skills

Extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of nuclear physics and nuclear astrophysics including the operation of radiation detectors. Experience with gaseous detectors is an advantage. Experience or familiarity with recoil separators and other relevant knowledge necessary to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the role. Experience with scientific computing. Experience and proficiency in data analysis using e.g. R-Matrix an asset.

Your Work Environment

This position is with the French CNRS. You will be posted at TRIUMF in Vancouver, reporting to the IRL NPAT Director and the DRAGON/TUDA Principal Investigator and you will interact with other members of the DRAGON/TUDA research team.

Constraints and risks

Work performed in zone surveyed by radioprotection.
