Missions

A 24-month postdoctoral position funded by the CNRS is available in the field of the physics of the two infinities in Japan. The ILANCE laboratory (International Laboratory for Astrophysics, Neutrinos and Cosmology Experiment) at the University of Tokyo in Japan is calling for applications for a postdoctoral position within the KAGRA or Hyper-Kamiokande groups. The ILANCE laboratory permanently hosts scientists from the French laboratories of the CNRS and from four departments of the University of Tokyo. Our laboratory benefits from an exceptional cultural and scientific environment.

Activities

The successful candidate will have to make significant contributions to the KAGRA project with the commissioning of the laser interferometer and the development of future instruments and systems to be implemented for the next KAGRA-LIGO-Virgo observation series. More generally, the candidate could also contribute to experimental research campaigns for gravitational wave astronomy linked to KAGRA and to the network of gravitational wave detectors on the ground.

For the Hyper-Kamiokande project, the successful candidate will have to play a leading role for the construction works of detection equipment, including the design and development of electronic systems and the design of new detectors "close" to the experiences. The candidate could also contribute to the current Super-Kamiokande experience for his new campaign with gadolinium.

Skills

Applicants should have a doctorate in experimental physics and have substantial experience in actively participating in particle physics or gravitational wave experiments. Computer software skills and a good knowledge of C ++ are highly desirable.

The position will be located in Japan at the University of Tokyo as part of international experients located in Japan
