The selected candidate will have as main mission to carry out source apportionment studies of submicron carbonaceous particles measured by Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ACSM) and Aethalometer, in order to improve knowledge of the origins of Organic Aerosol (OA, of which secondary fraction: SOA) in the Paris region. He/she will also accompany the realization of this type of study on other urban sites in Europe.


Implementation of source-receptor model type statistical tools, e.g., Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF), on different datasets resulting mainly from automatic measurements in ambient air. The candidate will also endeavor to integrate, or even coordinate, a European working group allowing the evaluation of the performance of a supply source tool in near real time on various European pilot sites (Barcelona, ​​Marseille, Plaine Po, Zurich, Bucharest, Helsinki, …).


The successful candidate will hold a doctoral thesis in atmospheric chemistry, with demonstrated experience of ACSM and Aethalometer instruments.
Experience using SoFi (Pro) software, developed by Datalytica, will be particularly appreciated.
A mastery of a data processing language (R, IGOR) is desired. She must be fluent in oral and written English.

Work Context

This post-doctoral work is part of the European H2020 "Green Deal" RI-Urbans project (https://riurbans.eu/), aimed in particular at developing the implementation of Research Infrastructure services. on Aerosols, clouds and reactive gaseous species (ACTRIS).
The LSCE's Experimental Atmospheric Chemistry (CAE) team studies gaseous and particulate reactive compounds by characterizing their sources, transformations and impact on atmospheric chemistry and climate. For this, the team implements measurements of these compounds both in the long term at the peri-urban station SIRTA-LSCE and also during measurement campaigns in various environments.
