- Characterize the effects of telomerase inactivation and telomere shortening on other cellular components and compartments.

Projects in the team “Telomere Biology” led by MT Teixeira target the comprehensive dissection of the pathways causing replicative senescence induced by telomere length erosion and the understanding of their impact on proliferative potential. Our strategy is to decompose the sources of cell-to-cell variations inherent to telomere and senescence to uncover the molecular basis of telomere control over cell proliferation limit. We thus analyze telomeres at the scale of single molecules and replicative senescence at the level of single-cell lineages. We combine the power of budding yeast genetics and genomics with state-of-the-art cell imaging techniques, microfluidics, quantitative analysis, and mathematical modeling.

Work Context

All the experiments will be carried out at the CNRS, at the Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology on the Curie campus, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris. All the necessary equipment is already in the laboratory or within a very close radius.

The position is designed as a first step in a research career, and the assessment of applicants will be primarily based on their research qualifications and skills that can complement and reinforce ongoing research at partner institutions.

Step 1. Applications from each eligible candidate will be assessed by independent international experts on the relevant research topic. Eligible applicants will be assessed on merit, motivation for the program, academic excellence, and personal qualifications such as their ability to collaborate and communicate.

Step 2. A maximum of three candidates will be selected for a video interview with independent experts for each open position. After the interview, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a remote conference with the project manager and a member of the DYNAMO board of directors to define the general scope of the project, the training, and the work environment. research. Applicants will be required to write a 3-page project proposal, bringing their original ideas, and will have 2 weeks to submit it.

Step 3. Each project proposal will be evaluated by one of the independent experts and a member of the DYNAMO board of directors who will have evaluated the applicant during the previous stages. The final selection will be made based on the marks obtained in stages 1, 2, and 3. The minimum mark must be greater than 20/40. The best candidate will be offered the postdoctoral position with a start date of January 1, 2023.
