Job Description
Thesis Subject
Currently, distribution networks are not monitored in real time. This lack of monitoring is mainly due to conditions of system unobservability. These conditions are the result of the limited number of sensors deployed. In addition, the sensors deployed have different sampling frequencies and transmit their observations asynchronously. These are physical constraints that are difficult to overcome. This thesis aims to develop a cybersecurity-enabled distribution system state estimator. To this end, this work will first explore artificial intelligence models to create synthetic observations at selected locations to enable system observability. Next, the uncertainty created by the synthetic measurements will be quantified and modelled. Third, the modelled uncertainties will be used to mitigate bad data, such as cyber threats, in the state estimation process. Fourth, a real-world use case will be implemented to validate the state estimator.
Your Work Environment
The G2elab Grenoble Electrical Engineering Laboratory is a joint research unit (UMR 5269) of Grenoble INP - UGA, Grenoble Alpes University and CNRS, in the field of Electrical Engineering Research.
It covers a scientific spectrum ranging from materials and components to the design and control of electrical energy systems. Its activities can be summed up in the following key words: electrical energy, materials, innovative processes and systems, modelling and design.
