Missions
The recruited person will join the ATIP-Avenir funded project "Multiple time scales of noradrenaline release and their implications for memory acquisition and consolidation" led by Yaroslav Sych.
He or she will be in charge of experiments with mice: stereotaxic intracerebral injection; brain sampling; brain sectioning and extracellular electrophysiological recording of brain activity; behavioral tests; data collection and analysis.
Activities
The various tasks must be able to be performed independently:
Stereotaxic surgery in mice for AAV-based sensors injection and implantation of intracerebral recording devices (optical fibers and electrodes);
Conducting a behavioral test: visual and sound discrimination tasks ("go"/"nogo" or two-alternative behavioral paradigms);
In-vivo extracellular electrophysiological recording of brain activity and in-vivo fiber photometry;
Data analysis: spike sorting of electrophysiological data, stimulus-evoked activity etc.;
Mice handling and injections.
Skills
The successful candidate must:
- have academic training in the field of neuroscience: have obtained a PhD in the field of circuit neuroscience;
- demonstrate autonomy, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a team;
- have a valid animal experimentation permit;
- have practical expertise in animal experimentation and rodent surgery, and in behavioral testing;
- have experience with either in vivo extracellular electrophysiological recording or with in vivo fiber photometry;
- have an academic track record proven by publications in the field of circuit neuroscience.
Work Context
The candidate will join the Institute of Cellular and Integrative Neuroscience (INCI), located on the Esplanade Campus in Strasbourg, to work within the team "Mesoscale Networks, Neuromodulation, and Behavior". The team consists of approximately 16 people (together with the LNCA's FunSy team, including four permanent researchers). The INCI has nine teams in total, for a total of approximately 130 employees, including approximately fifty permanent researchers. The CNRS is a leading research institute recognized worldwide for its scientific excellence.
Our institute offers a stimulating, friendly, and international work environment, with a wide range of nationalities represented.
Constraints and risks
constraints are linked to animal experimentation (mice) and the associated risks (bite, allergies, etc.).
