Missions

The MATRMAG - Materials and Magnetic Resonance - team at CNRS-CEMHTI laboratory in Orleans (France) recruits a researcher for 12 months renewable for another 12 months.
Li-ion batteries have revolutionised our societies and, enabled the development of portable electronics and electric mobility. As part of the French national research effort for the development of new generations of batteries (PEPR Batteries), the LIMASSE (LI-MetAl Solid-State battEries) project focuses on the development of all-solid-state batteries combining high storage capacity, safety and extended lifetime. As part of this project, the recruited researcher will study by NMR the evolution of prototype all-solid-state batteries from the LIMASSE project in order to characterise their chemical evolution and identify degradation sources. He/She will use and develop the CEMHTI's electrochemical and NMR techniques (in situ, MRI, MAS), and interact with the project's partner laboratories that are developing the new materials.

Activities

- NMR/MRI measurements
- All-solid batteries assembly and testing
- Optimisation of in situ setups
- Data processing
- Interpretation of results, drafting of reports and technical documents in collaboration with partners, presentation of results to the PEPR batteries consortium
- Share and highlight results through scientific publications
- Share and highlight results through scientific conferences

Skills

- Experience in NMR, and if possible in situ NMR
- Experience in battery assembly and electrochemical tests
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Independence and efficiency
- Ability to present results (written/oral) to a varied scientific audience
- Fluency in English (written/oral)
- Efficiency in data processing and analysis tools

Work Context

CEMHTI is a CNRS laboratory (approximately 100 employees) and houses an NMR platform comprising 6 spectrometers (from 200 to 850 MHz) and a wide range of static and MAS probes (from 7 to 0.7 mm) for spectroscopy, imaging or diffusion. It is part of the European PANACEA and national INFRANALYTICS NMR platforms.

About PEPR BATTERIES (France 2030) research programme:
this national research effort aims to develop new-generation batteries. This project, led by the CNRS and the CEA, involves numerous research laboratories in France, with unique and complementary expertise in energy storage technology, and includes several laboratories in the French energy storage network (RS2E). The aim of the LIMASSE (LI-MetAl Solid-State battEries) project within PEPR Batteries is to develop all-solid-state battery prototypes.

This project is within the French scientific and technic strategic domains. The competent authorities from the Ministry of Research and Education will study your application before authorizing your arrival.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.

Constraints and risks

-Attendence to events organised by PEPR Batteries and LIMASSE project
-Production of project deliverables
