Missions
As part of the EIC Pathfinder project ELEQUANT, we aim to develop a new quantum materials platform based on strained germanium heterostructures. The person to be recruited will be responsible for the nanofabrication of quantum devices. He/She will adapt and transpose our existing fabrication protocols, initially developed for GaAs-based heterostructures, to the new germanium-based material system. His/her work will include the fabrication of quantum point contacts, quantum dots, and quantum interferometers as well as their electrical characterisation.
His/her role will involve overseeing all nanofabrication activities within the project, including the development of new cleanroom processes, as well as training PhD students in nanofabrication techniques.
Activities
Activities :
• Assistance in nanofabrication and training of new PhD students.
• Development of nanofabrication processes for quantum materials based on strained germanium heterostructures.
• Measurement and characterization of quantum devices at cryogenic temperatures.
• Writing of research papers.
Skills
The candidate must hold a PhD in physics. Skills in cryogenics, quantum nanoelectroncis, nanofabrication, and programming would be an asset.
Work Context
The Institut NEEL, UPR 2940 CNRS, is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. The laboratory is related to the CNRS Physique. It is located in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment. It is part of one of Europe's biggest high-tech environment in micro- and nanoelectronics, right next to the French Alpes.
In the Institut Néel, the QuantECA team is specialized in the experimental study of quantum electronic devices, from fundamental studies to applications of quantum technologies.
The Institut NEEL is a CNRS laboratory. CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organisation.
The core mandate is to identify, carry out ou have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognised for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
