Missions
The ARNClo team at the Institut de Biologie Intégrative de la cellule (I2BC) in Gif-sur-Yvette is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to study the role and interaction of RNA-based defense systems in the interactions of Clostridioides difficile with phages. This mission is part of the ANR-funded project.
Activities
Multidisciplinary approaches including bacterial genetics, molecular biology, genomics and bioinformatics will be used to carry out the project. The candidate will participate in a collaborative project to study the role of RNA-based defense systems in the emergence of highly adapted bacterial pathogens such as Clostridioides difficile.
Skills
The candidate will have recently obtained a PhD in microbiology or molecular biology with a strong background in bacterial genetics, phage biology and regulatory RNA, and a keen interest in the field of RNA biology and phage-bacteria and host-pathogen interactions. Previous experience in the manipulation of bacterial genomes, phages and bacterial defense mechanisms, RNA-based regulations, RNA-protein interactions and/or the physiology of anaerobic bacteria will be useful for this project. Skills in high-throughput sequencing methods and data analysis would also be recommended. Experience in culturing and handling strict or pathogenic anaerobic bacteria would be a plus. Good communication skills in English are required.
Work Context
The Institut de Biologie Intégrative de la Cellule (I2BC) is a joint research unit (CNRS, CEA and Université Paris-Saclay). The institute is made up of 60 research teams divided into 5 departments and 17 high-level technological platforms. The position is in the “Regulatory RNA in Clostridia” team within the “Microbiology” department. The team is located in building 24 on the CNRS site at Gif-sur-Yvette.
