Job Description

Missions

Develop research in animal linguistics in collaboration with Philippe Schlenker, Lucie Ravaux, and Emmanuel Chemla, based on new case studies and the collection of field data.
Reconstruct ancestral communication signals through phylogenetic analysis.

Activity

Formulate and develop new hypotheses in animal linguistics.
Design and conduct relevant experimental studies.
Carry out phylogenetic research on the evolution of animal communication.

Your Profil

Skills

Extensive expertise in animal linguistics, particularly in formal semantics and pragmatics as applied to animal communication.
Strong publication record in this area.
Advanced academic training (PhD) in (i) ethology and (ii) animal communication. If possible, competences in (iii) bioacoustics, and (iv) ornithology.
Experience conducting fieldwork on bird communication.
Ability to supervise Master's and PhD students.

Your Work Environment

Position based at the Institut Jean-Nicod, within the LINGUAE research team.
Collaboration with Emmanuel Chemla (LSCP, CNRS; Earth Species Project).
Fieldwork missions as part of the research program.
