Job Description
Missions
A 12-month post-doctoral position is available at the LBPA, Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay in Gif-sur-Yvette. The laboratory is located in the quickly developing Paris-Saclay campus. We seek a highly motivated and skilled post-doctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the KirFlex research project, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) in collaboration with the IMPMC at Sorbonne Université in Paris. She/he will work on a cutting-edge project focused on exploring the conformational dynamics and allosteric regulation networks of an inwardrectifying potassium channel (Kir2.1), integrating molecular simulations and experimental data (cryo-EM, sm-FRET). This project aims to provide a comprehensive model of Kir2.1 allosteric regulation, with potential therapeutic applications.
Activity
The candidate will use enhanced sampling methods (in particular hybrid Molecular Dynamics and Normal Mode simulations) to explore the conformational dynamics of wild-type and mutant channels and characterize the allosteric networks responsible for channel modulation, and the influence of various modulators. She/he will collaborate closely with experimentalists to interpret and integrate several experimental data.
Your Profil
Skills
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of the following qualifications, although not all are mandatory:
● PhD in Computational Biophysics, Structural Biology, Bioinformatics or a related field.
● Strong background in molecular dynamics simulations.
● Experience in the statistical analysis and visualization of simulation results.
● Excellent programming skills (Python).
● Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
● Strong communication skills and a track record of scientific publications.
● Experience with cryo-EM data interpretation, flexible fitting techniques, and normal mode analysis are appreciated.
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will join the LBPA, a research unit that brings together molecular and cellular biologists, biophysicists, and structuralists working on topics related to infectiology (viruses and pathogenic bacteria), dynamics of nucleic acids and nucleoprotein complexes, using experimental approaches and molecular modeling, with biotechnological developments (biosensors, diagnosis, etc). Located near the Soleil synchrotron, the LBPA also has access to very high-level equipment for X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy.
Working in the Paris-Saclay area offers researchers unparalleled access to a vibrant scientific community and cutting-edge research facilities, fostering collaboration with top-tier institutions and industry leaders. The region is a hub for innovation and interdisciplinary research, providing numerous opportunities for professional growth and networking.
Additionally, the campus strategic location near Paris allows researchers to enjoy the cultural richness, historical landmarks, and dynamic lifestyle of one of the world's most iconic cities. Overall, Paris-Saclay is an exceptional environment for advancing scientific careers while enjoying a high standard of living.
