Job Description
Missions
As part of the Mechanobiology division of the Biomechanics and Bioengineering team at the Institute of Movement Sciences (ISM), the research engineer (M/F) will support the project on the remodeling of the tendon-bone interface in response to a changing mechanical environment.
The research engineer (M/F) will be responsible for developing, implementing, and utilizing experimental approaches to study these remodeling processes. Through various experimental contexts (deconditioning, training, aging), the research engineer (M/W) will identify markers of maladaptation that may lead to insertion tendinopathy.
At the same time, the research engineer (M/F) will also contribute to the development and scientific and technical activities of the ISM's Mécabio platform.
Activity
The research engineer (M/F) will actively participate in all aspects—both technical and scientific—of histological experiments (staining, immunohistochemistry, histomorphometry), imaging (X-ray microtomography, reconstruction, 3D and quantitative analyses of microstructure), and mechanical testing (tensile testing to fracture, image correlation).
The Research Engineer (M/F) will be responsible for leading projects, preparing grant proposals, and assisting with student supervision.
In addition, the Research Engineer (M/F) will work on the Mecabio platform to provide services related to the mechanical characterization of biological tissues and/or medical devices.
Your Profil
Skills
Knowledge of biological tissues with property gradients, histology, fracture mechanics, mechanics of biological materials, data processing, statistics, X-ray microtomography, and image analysis.
Recommended degree: Ph.D. in biomechanics, life sciences, bioengineering
Your Work Environment
The research engineer (M/F) will mainly work at the faculty of pharmacy and the faculty of medicine on the Timone Health Campus to conduct experiments. However, the candidate will also be required to travel to other ISM locations, such as Sainte-Marguerite Hospital and the Luminy campus, as well as to the Applied Biomechanics Laboratory at Marseille North Hospital.
Constraints and risks
The Institute of Movement Sciences is a multi-site laboratory that requires travel within Marseille.
Use of animal and human samples.
Knowledge of good laboratory practices is required for the use of chemicals in histology and X-rays in microtomography.
Specific regulatory training in animal experimentation, appropriate to the tasks performed, is required.
