Missions
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, fabrication, and characterization of hollow core optical fibers for high capacity and quantum telecommunications applications. Additionally, the post-doctoral officer will collaborate with project partners to test and evaluate the performance of the fabricated fibers within optical networks.
Activities
- Design of innovative hollow-core fiber structures using the finite element method.
- Fabrication of specific optical fibers on a fiber drawing tower.
- Linear characterization of the obtained optical fibers (loss, bend sensitivity, modal quality, polarization, etc.).
- Geometric measurements of fibers (surface roughness, transverse profile, SEM imaging, etc.).
- Characterization of fibers for high capacity and quantum telecommunications, and in collaboration with partner laboratories, particularly regarding the use and evaluation of fabricated fibers in telecommunications networks.
- Results analysis, processing and presentation.
- Dissemination of results through the writing of scientific articles.
Skills
- Strong expertise in optical fiber fabrication and linear characterization (preferably with specific experience in hollow-core optical fibers).
- Strong skills in fiber characterization measurements and numerical design tools.
- Good level of English.
Work Context
The project will be conducted within the GPPMM research group at the XLIM Research Institute, as part of a PEPR-5G project.
