Job Description

Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will join the Molecular Imaging and Radiobiology team within the Subatomic Research Department of the Hubert Curien Pluridisciplinary Institute (IPHC). They will work under the supervision of David Brasse as part of the Scintifoam project, funded by CNRS Innovation. The project focuses on detecting radioactive contaminants in liquids.
The postdoctoral researcher will participate in the production of materials and contribute to the development of dedicated acquisition electronics for the Scintifoam project.

Activity

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to various aspects of the Scintifoam project, including:
- Collaborating in the production of materials in partnership with the Charles Sadron Institute,
- Contributing to the development of dedicated acquisition electronics,
- Conducting tests on the developed devices,
- Analyzing the obtained data,
- Optimizing performance to address the challenge of detecting radioactive contaminants in liquids.

Your Profil

Skills

Applicants must hold a PhD in instrumentation for ionizing particle detection or a related field, and demonstrate significant research experience in this area.
Required expertise and skills include:
- Proven expertise in electronics dedicated to the amplification and digitization of signals from photodetectors;
- In-depth knowledge of ionizing particle detection technologies, particularly using organic and inorganic scintillators, as well as light detection devices such as SiPMs;
- Strong skills in mechanical design, including 3D modeling, design, and 3D printing, with proficiency in tools such as Blender or equivalent software;
- Experience in designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) and using electronic CAD software like KiCad (or equivalent);
- Confirmed programming skills, particularly in C and C++, as well as data analysis and processing using Python-based tools;
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment, collaborating with specialists from various fields;
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken. A B2 level or higher according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is recommended to successfully carry out the assigned tasks.

Your Work Environment

The Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert CURIEN (IPHC), a joint research unit under the joint supervision of CNRS and the University of Strasbourg (UMR7178), is a multidisciplinary laboratory where research teams from different scientific cultures (ecology, physiology and ethology, chemistry and subatomic physics) develop very high level programs based on scientific instrumentation. The IPHC is structured into 4 departments and has a total staff of 393 staff including 257 permanent staff (ie 119 researchers and teachers / researchers and 138 engineers and technicians), 46 staff on fixed-term contracts and 102 doctoral students.

The candidate will join the IMR team, which consists of five researchers, six engineers, and one doctoral student. The successful candidate will report to David Brasse.
The candidate (M/F) will have access to a staff restaurant, partial reimbursement of transportation costs, a works council, the possibility of teleworking one to two days per week for some activities, subject to the agreement of the CMS team manager, and training to adapt to the job.
