Job Description

Missions

The postdoctoral researcher will work on the ERC project ThoughtOrigins led by Isabelle Dautriche. Their role will focus on developing the “multimodal language acquisition” research axis, particularly by determining the conceptual complexity of pre-linguistic communication systems. The postdoctoral researcher must be fully autonomous and able to demonstrate a high level of integration within a team composed of researchers in developmental psychology and comparative psychology.

Activity

- design of behavioral and neuroimaging experiments (fNIRS; EEG) with infants
- processing of longitudinal corpora of parent–child interactions, particularly coding non-linguistic signals
- recruitment of participating families
- data collection with pre-verbal and verbal infants
- data analysis
- writing scientific articles
- presentation of research findings

Your Profil

Skills

Required:
- experience in neuroimaging (fNIRS, EEG) with infants under 1 year old
- experience in eye-tracking with infants under 1 year old
- processing of audio and video corpora, particularly coding gestures and non-linguistic behaviors
- ability to synthesize this information into an ethogram
- proficiency in MNE-Python analysis pipelines
- advanced (fluent) English

Preferred:
- prior experience in comparative psychology (to facilitate integration into the team)

Your Work Environment

The postdoctoral researcher will work with Isabelle Dautriche (language, infant cognition, comparative cognition). The Centre de Recherche en Psychologie et Neuroscience (CRPN) in Marseille will provide access to the “Labo des Minots,” an experimental platform dedicated to studies with infants.

Constraints and risks

Data collection will also take place on Saturdays, as this is when families are most available to participate in our studies.
