Reference : UMR6634-CHRVUR-062
Number of position : 1
Workplace : ST ETIENNE DU ROUVRAY
Date of publication : 01 October 2025
Type of Contract : Researcher in FTC
Contract Period : 12 months
Expected date of employment : 15 December 2025
Proportion of work : Full Time
Remuneration : between EUR 3 021.50 and 4 208.37 gross monthly salary according to experience
Desired level of education : Doctorate

Missions

As part of the ANR IronMet project, the selected candidate will participate in the development of a phase-field model to study the mechanisms of formation and growth of tetrataenite (Ni-Fe with the L1₀ ordered structure) during cooling. The objective is to incorporate the presence of an external magnetic field into the phase-field model and to simulate the microstructural evolution for different cooling rates.

Activities

- Phase-field modeling of the phase transition in the Fe-Ni alloy. The selected candidate will use the 'Phase_Field' code developed within the GPM UMR 6634 modeling team.
- Writing of scientific publications.

Skills

Dual expertise in materials physics and numerical simulation

Work Context

GPM (Materials Physics Group, UMR CNRS 6634) is organized in 5 departments: Metallurgy- Mechanical Microstructures, Scientific Instrumentation, Functional Materials and Nanostructures, Disordered Systems and Polymers, Thematic Openings and Innovations. It brings together 140 staff including 60 Researchers, 30 ITA, 50 PhD students/PostDoct and interns. The laboratory is located on the Campus Sciences et Ingénierie Rouen Normandie (in Saint Etienne du Rouvray), within the University of Rouen Normandy and INSA Rouen Normandy.

The recruited researcher will be affiliated with the Modeling Team of the MMM (Metallurgy, Microstructures, Mechanics) Department of the GPM laboratory, which has extensive experience in materials modeling and simulation within an international scientific environment. He or she will have access to the Normandie supercomputer (CRIANN). This team (4 faculty members/researchers, 1 research engineer, 1 fixed-term researcher, and 2 PhD students) specializes in the modeling and simulation of phase transitions in materials, notably through phase-field and crystal/quasi-particle phase-field approaches.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
