Missions

The engineer (M/F) will join a team of engineers, researchers, and PhD students working within the MIMENTO cleanroom, and will operate under the supervision of the head of MIMENTO's nanotechnology resource. He/She will adapt and implement techniques and methods for the structuring of thin films at the sub-micrometer scale, as well as for the structural, physical, chemical, and dimensional characterization of micro- and nanosystems.

Activities

(1) Primary Mission: Management of a SEM-EDS system and characterization equipments (microscopes, profilometers, ellipsometers)
- Perform analyses for internal users and external customers
- Present results in the form of reports
- Train and advise users
- Handle first-level maintenance
- Write user manuals

(2) Secondary Mission: Carry out nanofabrication processes
- Operate nanofabrication instruments: electron beam lithography and dual-beam SEM-FIB
- Optimize and implement high-resolution processes for internal users and external clients
- Contribute to user support and guidance

Skills

- Prior experience in a cleanroom environment is appreciated (lithography, plasma processes, SEM, etc.)
- General knowledge of physics and materials science
- General understanding of the principles behind the techniques used (radiation–matter interaction, properties of thin-film materials, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of related techniques (vacuum systems, instrumentation, etc.)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Analytical mindset, curiosity, rigor, and patience
- English: Level 2 – reading and speaking comprehension

Work Context

The FEMTO-ST research institute in Besançon (www.femto-st) is recruiting a Research Engineer specialized in cleanroom technology, with a focus on the development and characterization of thin-film materials. The engineer will work within FEMTO-ST's MIMENTO technology facility, which is part of the CNRS national network of the five major academic cleanroom platforms dedicated to micro- and nanotechnologies.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.
