Missions

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team for a 18 months position based at Femto-ST in Besançon. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to pioneering research and development in integrated photonics, and includes the potential to become a co-founder of Lightspring. We are looking for someone with complementary skills in photonics, optical design, numerical simulations of photonic circuits, microfabrication, who can bring fresh perspectives and will drive some of our most exciting projects forward.

Activities

● Drive both internal projects on patentable concepts and commercial projects for real-world industry use cases, autonomously taking charge of several key tasks (use case discovery, design, simulation, prototyping, fabrication, characterization).
● Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team (photonics, neuromorphic computing, software development, microfabrication) to develop and implement original solutions.
● Contribute to the development of the startup's intellectual property and commercialization strategies.
● Participate in strategic planning and business development activities.

Skills

● A PhD in integrated Optics / Photonics or a related discipline.
● A strong track record demonstrating excellence and creativity.
● Experience in design and simulation of integrated photonics components, including specialized software (Comsol, Lumerical, Zeemax, GDS Factory, CAD softwares…).
● Experience in clean room processes and microfabrication is highly recommended.
● Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
● Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for translating research into real-world applications.
● Ability to work independently and to take initiative.
