Job Description
Missions
An explicit model called CLEPS, which represents chemical and biological reactivity processes in the gas phase and aqueous phase (cloud), is being developed at LaMP. The ANR OPTIC project, in which the candidate will be involved, aims to improve the model's description of dissolved organic matter and its reactivity based on results obtained using high-resolution FT-ICR MS.
Activity
Development of modeling tools: The candidate will be expected to learn and further develop the LaMP explicit chemistry model (CLEPS), which is an atmospheric chemistry model that accounts for explicit chemical reactivity in both the gas phase and the aqueous phase, as well as the transfer of chemical compounds between phases; This model is also coupled with a microphysics module for the liquid phase of the cloud, enabling the specification of the cloud's microphysical evolution (droplet sizes, water content).
The candidate will be required to implement the description of organic matter and perform numerous simulations using the CLEPS model under contrasting environmental scenarios. Knowledge of atmospheric chemical reactivity is therefore required.
Your Profil
Skills
- Knowledge of atmospheric chemical processes - Modeling skills (Fortran/Matlab/Python) - Data processing and analysis skills - Ability to work well in a team - Ability to adapt to interdisciplinary work (physics, chemistry, biology) - English: B2 to C1
Your Work Environment
The researcher will join the “Physical, Chemical, and Biological Processes in the Cloudy Atmosphere” team, which focuses on studying the processes leading up to cloud formation (emissions of gaseous precursors, formation of new particles, formation of cloud droplets and ice crystals) and those occurring within clouds (cloud chemical and biological processes, microphysical processes). Close collaboration with researchers involved in in-situ and laboratory cloud characterization is required. The candidate may participate in a measurement campaign at Puy de Dôme.
The successful candidate will enjoy numerous benefits: professional support and in-house training, partial reimbursement of public transportation costs, a sustainable mobility allowance (up to €300/year), 45 days of vacation/RTT per year, and a contribution toward health insurance costs.
