Job Description
Missions
Within the national PEPR CHOOSE project, your primary responsibility will be the design and evaluation of innovative computing architectures dedicated to embedded AI. You will work on the integration of emerging memories (MRAM) to overcome the "memory wall" technological bottleneck and design ultra-energy-efficient accelerators. Your role will be to bridge the gap between new physical devices and high-performance system implementation.
Activity
Architectural exploration: Study and simulate new Compute-In-Memory (CiM) architectures.
Hardware prototyping: Develop RTL models, perform emulations on FPGA targets, or use architectural simulators.
Full-stack co-optimization: Participate in hardware/software co-design to adapt AI workloads to the specific characteristics of emerging memories.
Scientific dissemination: Write technical reports and scientific publications, and present progress to the PEPR CHOOSE consortium partners.
Technology watch: Monitor the state of the art in AI accelerators and spintronics/MRAM technologies.
Your Profil
Skills
Technical expertise: Proficiency in computer architecture and integrated circuit design (digital or analog).
Design tools: Skills in RTL coding (Verilog/VHDL), logic synthesis, and/or system simulation tools.
Specific knowledge: Strong interest in AI accelerators and emerging memory technologies.
Soft skills: Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and a collaborative research environment.
Languages: Proficiency in scientific English (written and spoken) is essential.
Optional: Experience in Hardware-Software co-design or circuit design for Compute-in-Memory.
Your Work Environment
The position is part of the national PEPR Electronics program (CHOOSE Project). Depending on the candidate's profile and interests, the role will be hosted at LIRMM (Montpellier), focusing on digital architecture and system prototyping, in close collaboration with Spintec/CEA (Grenoble) for a focus on analog design and spintronic devices. You will work within an ecosystem of excellence, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure and strong interactions with national leaders in the field.
