Job Description

Missions

The selected candidate will collaborate with members of the PEPR CYCLALOOP project to study regeneration treatments for used titanium-based powders and chips via solid-state processes.
After characterizing the effects of ageing and/or use of the powders and chips at the laboratory scale, these materials will be subjected to treatments in an oven or through annealing.
Once the regeneration parameters have been optimized, scaling up to the pre-industrial level will be undertaken.

Activity

- Characterization of the initial powders and chips (Ti-64 and Ti-6242)
- Experimental study of the ageing and/or use of powders and chips: kinetic aspects by thermogravimetry and interrupted tests, and physicochemical aspects by surface characterization
- Optimization of regeneration parameters for powders and chips through oven treatment or annealing
- Scale-up of powder and chip regeneration from the milligram to kilogram scale using a rotary furnace

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in Materials Chemistry, Metallurgy, Materials Characterization, or Chemical Engineering in granular media
- Experience in heterogeneous kinetics or solid–gas reactivity
- Strong interest in experimental work
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently

Your Work Environment

The PEPR “Recycling, Recyclability and Reuse of Materials” is part of the France 2030 Acceleration Strategy. Its objective is to foster the emergence of a French model in the field of recycled raw materials (RRM) and their reintegration into new products.
The program brings together more than 100 teams across France and is structured into 11 research areas: 5 “materials” areas, 4 “value chain” areas, and 2 cross-cutting areas.
The CYCLALOOP project, to which this postdoctoral position is attached, falls within the “strategic metals” area, specifically in the solid-state recycling task. It involves the following laboratories: ICMPE (Thiais), SIMaP (Saint-Martin-d'Hères), LGF (Saint-Étienne), IRCP (Paris), and ONERA-DMAS (Châtillon).
The successful candidate will join the Laboratoire Georges Friedel (LGF), UMR5307 CNRS / Mines Saint-Étienne, and will collaborate through occasional visits with the SIMaP laboratory (Saint-Martin-d'Hères).
LGF is recognized for its expertise in heterogeneous kinetics and powder technology, while SIMaP is particularly renowned for its expertise in nanoscale materials characterization.
