Job Description

Missions

This position is part of the ANR SynPaX project, which aims to develop methods for the automatic parsing of speech and to investigate cross-modal transfer learning methods. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of such methods, the formulation of underlying scientific questions, and the dissemination of the work through the submission of articles.

Activity

- Reviewing scientific literature on multimodal pre-trained models, speech syntactic analysis, and cross-modal transfer methods; - Designing and implementing speech syntactic analysis models; - Experimenting with and evaluating developed models; - Disseminating research results (articles, presentations, seminars); - Contributing to the team's scientific activities (e.g., attending seminars).

Your Profil

Skills

- PhD in Natural Language Processing or Speech Processing
- Strong programming skills (Python, PyTorch) and machine learning skills (Transformer)
- Fluency in French and English
- Interest in linguistic data

Your Work Environment

The work will be carried out within the Grenoble Computer Science Laboratory (LIG). The LIG is a joint research unit (Université Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, and Grenoble INP) that brings together nearly 450 researchers, lecturers, doctoral students, and research support staff. They belong to the various organizations and are spread across three LIG sites: the campus, Minatec, and Montbonnot. The LIG aims to be a laboratory focused on the foundations and development of computer science, while also maintaining an ambitious outreach to society to address its emerging challenges. The ambition is to leverage the complementarity and recognized quality of the LIG's 22 research teams to contribute to the development of fundamental aspects of computer science (models, languages, methods, algorithms) and to foster synergy between the conceptual, technological, and societal challenges associated with this discipline. The position will be based within the GETALP team, which has strong expertise and a solid track record in natural language processing. The successful candidate will join a team that offers a stimulating, multinational, and pleasant work environment. The position falls within the area of ​​scientific and technical potential protection (PPST) and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, that your arrival be authorized by the relevant authority within the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESR).
