Missions

This position aims at upgrading, at a production level, the software pipelines for the detection and characterization of the galaxy clusters during the operational phase of the EUCLID mission, in interaction with the scientific teams.

Activities

• Upgrade the « Processing Functions » for the clusters of galaxies, to the production phase level :
Finalize the integration of the software units dedicated to the detection and caracterization of the clusters of galaxies, within the « Ground Segment » environment. These softwares and their documentation are currently at an advanced stage of development, but will have to be deployed and executed for starting theproduction phase of the mission.
• Develop a configurable scientific pipeline for the processing of the galaxy clusters:
Implement interface tools to allow scientists from the « clusters » working groups to access the (simulated or observed) data, execute the codes and analyze the results issued from galaxy clusters processing within the Euclid Science Ground Segment.
• Check the technical and scientific conformity of the « clusters » software processing:
Ensure, from the reception of the sets of data from the satellite, the technical conformity of the different cluster pipelines and their outputs. In a close relation with the science team, the results will be analyzed to optimize the execution parameters, and/or possibly to update the processing codes or the pipelines accordingly.

Work Context

The Lagrange Laboratory (Nice, fr) participates actively in the Science Ground Segment (SGS) of the European space mission EUCLID, launch in July 2023. We are currently preparing the scientific exploitation for the upcoming operational phase of the EUCLID mission. In particular, our group is in charge of developing the software for the detection and characterization of the galaxy clusters. Contacts in the lab are S. Maurogordato, C. Benoist and M. Vannier
