Description of the thesis topic
This PhD research will consist in developing an adapted shaping of porous Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) type solids, whose crystalline structure will allow the selective capture of VOCs, in order to meet the needs of heritage objects and their environment. The synthesis of the MOFs will be carried out under green conditions and the MOF support will consist of a biosourced polymer matrix prepared in the aqueous phase and/or under green conditions, free of any toxic solvent and shaped in the form of a membrane. MOF synthesis parameters as well as membrane shaping (MOF/polymer pair, particle size, film thickness, MOF content, etc.) will be systematically explored. The materials and associated composites will be characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, adsorption, electron microscopy as well as VOC capture tests in environmental chambers. Finally, the study of adsorbed compounds and the adsorption kinetics of the best composite films will be followed by PTR-ToF-MS (Proton Transfer Reaction "Time-of-Flight" Mass Spectrometry), and TD-GC-MS (thermodesorption gas chromatography Mass Spectrometry).
