Description of the thesis topic

The aim of this project is to develop the first total synthesis of Incednine and molecules of similar structures with antibiotic properties. Incednine is a substance of natural origin capable of lifting resistance to apoptosis in cancer cells. This remarkable property opens up new therapeutic options as well as an opportunity for biochemists to learn more about the mechanisms of apoptosis. Showing a complex cyclic and tense polyenic structure, this target is a major synthetic challenge however never met despite its great biological interest. This project is funded by the ANR (SYNTENSE project)

Work Context

-The laboratory is led by Emmanuel Roulland (CR, CNRS, HDR) and is dedicated to the total synthesis of natural products and to the development of new methods in organometallic chemistry mainly. This entity is part of the C-TAC team of UMR 8038 (CitCom) located at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Paris (75006) (University of Paris). The laboratory currently consists of two PhD students, a post-doc and its manager who receives two ANR funding.
