Description of the thesis topic

The candidate will focus on the synthesis of nanozeolites in suspensions and high solid colloidal precursors. High-throughput facilities (robot) will facilitate the synthesis of a large portfolio of samples.
A structural diversity of the secondary building unites (SBU) is expected to be created and translate to framework structures. The formation of long range crystalline order in the nanozeolites will be achieved by varying the colloidal precursors. In addition, the post-hydrothermal approach in a single and/or multi-step relaying on the defects as a pool for further modification will be explored. Another important aspect will be the stabilization of these nanostructures under heating to be controlled by defects healing. Study of defects behavior in long-to-short range crystalline domains at different temperature will be targeted.
The candidate with experience in synthesis, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry and spectroscopy is highly desired. The high-throughput synthesis facilities will be used followed by classical hydrothermal approaches. Comprehensive spectroscopic characterizations (NMR, in-situ IR, Raman) combined with macroscopic (XRD, HRSEM, TG, Physisorption) characterizations will be carried out.
Strategic development of nanomaterials by exploring new synthesis routes.
The PhD will be in charge of the development of novel methodology for synthesis of nanosized porous materials. A particular attention will be paid on the new properties related with the versatility in chemical compositions, framework structures and extra framework cations.
Candidate requirements:
- A relevant experience in materials chemistry is mandatory.
- An experience in characterization of inorganic materials will be highly appreciated (IR, XRD, TEM, SEM, TG)
-Must have a master in chemistry, physical chemistry or material science.
- Efficient in oral and written communications.
- Mastery of oral and written English is mandatory.

The project will take place within the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant ERC-2021-ADG
(101054004): ZEOLIghT” Dual challenges in the discovery and sustainability of nanozeolites: controlling defect sites and structural flexibility- CNRS managed by Dr. Svetlana Mintova (Director of Recherche, CNRS, LCS UMR 6506, Caen). The work will be carried out at LCS - Laboratoire Catalyse & Spectrochimie (https://www.lcs.ensicaen.fr) located in Caen (Normandy).
The LCS has built its reputation on the preparation of zeolites and related porous materials, operando spectroscopy and catalysis. Combining very strong poles in synthesis of porous materials and spectroscopy. The selected candidate will be attached to UMR6506.
