Description of the thesis topic

The main objective is the characterization of the oxidation of proteins under oxidaitive stress by an hyphenated laser-MS approach. This employment is proposed as part of a recently accepted ANR project and will focus on the analysis of cysteine oxidations and carbonylations. These oxidized proteins will be specifically detected by mass spectrometry coupled the photodissociation in the visible range after adequate grafting of a chromophore.

The Institute of Analytical Sciences (ISA) is the academic research center the most important in terms of analytical chemistry at the European level. It brings together the expertise of more than 170 researchers, teacher-researchers, PhD students, engineers and technicians as well as a set of analytical instruments unique in Europe. The AnaBioMS team is recognized for these methodological developments in mass spectrometry for analysis and quantification of proteins. The centre offers excellent working conditions and is located in Lyon, a French town that is particularly dynamic, internationally recognized for its quality of life.

Additional Information

The candidate should have a master's degree in chemistry or molecular biochemistry. Mass spectrometry and laser spectroscopy skills will be an advantage. The candidate will work in an international and collaborative environment and must demonstrate creativity and good communication skills.
