• Upgrade an agent-based model of interaction between CTL and cancer cell
• Develop tools for design and optimization of experimental protocols

We are looking for an engineer in life modeling who will work under the supervision of Dr. Sylvain Cussat-Blanc. He/she will be hosted at the Institut des Technologies Avancées en sciences du Vivant (ITAV CNRS USR3505), Toulouse, France. The objective of this interdisciplinary project is to develop (1) an automatic calibration tool and (2) tools for the design and optimization of experimental protocols for a T cell/target cell interaction model already calibrated on melanoma cells and cytotoxic T cells [Kazhen et al. 2019, Scientific Report]. The aim is to be able to indivualize an agent-oriented model using data from patient samples and/or new cell types. To this end, statistical indicators will have to be proposed in order to evaluate both the quality of experimental data and the results of simulations. Once calibrated, the simulation platform should be usable by biologists to develop and optimize new experimental protocols and evaluate their results via the model.


We are looking for a talented candidate with a Master's degree in Computer Science to work in a multidisciplinary research environment. Experience in modeling biological systems is required, preferably with a good knowledge of cancer. The candidate should be creative, highly motivated and have good skills in writing scientific publications.

The candidate will be assigned to the ITAV, a service and research unit of 50 people, in the Onko3D research team, under the responsibility of Sylvain Cussat-Blanc (see

The project will be carried out in close collaboration with Dr Salvatore Valittuti (CRCT INSERM U1037), immunologist and pathologist, expert in immunological synapses. The candidate will work with a post-doctoral fellow in immunology who will generate experimental data to calibrate and/or validate the model throughout its development process.
